Estimator

Position: Full Time                                                Reports to: Senior Estimator

This position calls for an individual who is adept in mathematics and has keen analytical skills. This position requires a professional that must be able to manage the high stress of tight deadlines and the responsibility of accurately forecasting the budget for construction projects that AASF is invited to Bid on. The individual will work directly with the Estimating manager to estimate and forecast project construction costs by collecting and studying information and following designated departmental procedures.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the updating of system of record with Bid information/dates, such as eSub & Bid Calendar
  • Work closely with Estimating Manager to ensure that the project is being priced correctly
  • Prepare assigned estimates assigned by Estimating Manager by identifying material, labor and time requirements by studying project drawings, specifications, and related documents
  • Send in RFI’s/clarifications to general contractor after initial review of project specifications and drawings
  • Provide detailed pricing on all material using estimating programs and vendors
  • Review all vendors pricing upon receipt to ensure accurate quotes
  • Configure shop & field labor associated with each aspect of the bid
  • Provide a full detailed proposal listing all specified framing systems, glass types, window types, door types, door numbers, hardware sets etc.
  • Complete estimates in a timely fashion based on current bid schedule
  • Prioritize and multitask to bid multiple projects at a time
  • Present bid to estimating manager for final review & approval prior to submitting to general contractor

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, but will consider a significant industry experience as a substitute
  • Certification or trade background is a plus
  • Intermediate knowledge of estimating strategies and techniques
  • Basic understanding of construction, contracts and terminology
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in estimating, proposals, project execution or business development, preferably in the Glass construction industry

  • Construction Project Management Software
  • Bluebeam Editing Software
  • MS Office – Word, Excel, Vision and PowerPoint
