Using A Spotter While Setting Glass With A Manipulator

Setting large panels takes precision and coordination to ensure you don’t get hurt. While manipulators may make the job easier and faster, they’re not entirely risk-free. This is where a spotter comes in handy.

What Does A Spotter Do?

A spotter is a person who helps keep an eye on the ground and guides the operator as they lift the glass. They can also help with:

  • Moving through tight spaces
  • Checking bind spots
  • Communicate adjustments as they happen
  • Ensuring the panel is placed properly
  • Watching for hazards like uneven surfaces, nearby workers, or equipment

Why Using A Spotter Is Important

Even high-tech equipment, such as manipulators, has its limitations. They can’t anticipate shifting weight, unexpected movements, or site-specific dangers. A spotter adds that extra layer of protection and situational awareness that tech doesn’t offer.
